Malicious Destruction of Property Charges

Malicious destruction of property (MDOP) means destroying or damaging property on purpose or with the specific intent to do so. If the property is worth more than $1,000 it’s a felony and less than $1,000 is a misdemeanor. Defenses include challenging the value of the property, and whether there existed the intent to damage it – maybe it was an accident.
